Much like the fruit itself, pomegranate leaf has a wide range of potential health benefits. It has been shown to aid in digestion and to help treat certain infections and illnesses. More recently, it has been studied as an appetite suppressant and weight loss aid. The leaves can be combined with the fruit and flowers from the same plant, or taken alone. They can also be taken in various ways, including teas, pastes, and juices.

As with any supplement, those with health conditions should seek medical treatment before using pomegranate leaf as a potential treatment. Although there are few side effects associated with pomegranate consumption, it is always better to get a clear diagnosis from a medical professional. Once one has been cleared to use this substance, there are a wide range of perks to using this plant as a medicinal supplement.

One potential benefit of using pomegranate leaf is that is helps aid in digestion. The tea can be taken for upset stomach and related symptoms, or it may be taken as a supplemental capsule. This should only be used in the case of mild stomach discomfort, as more severe pain could be indicative of a serious health condition. The juice taken from pomegranate leaf is also useful, especially when combined with the juice extracted from the fruit as well. It is given to help treat dysentery, a digestive infection that causes pain and severe diarrhea. This may be effective due to pomegranate's antibacterial properties.

Pomegranate fruit is extremely potent with antioxidants, antibacterial agents, and vitamins that can help boost immune function. It has more cancer-fighting properties than both green tea and red wine. To get the most benefits from pomegranate leaf, combine it with the consumption of the fruit and juice.

Forget the flavor, and think about what it will be actually doing for your body: preventing cancer, aiding indigestion and rectal problems, killing / destroying bacteria and other foreign bodies that can cause illness. Drink up please.

The bitter taste may be beneficial to the liver! Do not go according to taste but to benefits. You can always "dress up" the tea with stevia or other fruit juice.

If any of you are looking for super antioxidant, vitamin and energy benefits, try mixing pomegranate leaf with acai. You can have it as smoothie, tea or juice.

@turkay1-- Sorry to hear about your experience. I've had a positive experience with pomegranate leaf but I don't drink it. It's actually an ingredient in my shampoo.

I use a shampoo with antioxidants to protect my hair from pollution and things like that. the main ingredient that it gets its antioxidant properties from is pomegranate leaf.

I really love this shampoo, it's awesome. My hair just feels so much healthier and stronger since I started using it. I can't say anything about pomegranate leaf tea, but I do recommend the shampoo.

I've been having some mild indigestion lately and my friend recommended pomegranate leaf tea as a remedy. I love eating pomegranate fruit so I though this would be a great remedy to try and ordered the tea online.

However, I was really disappointed with the flavor. It's really bitter! I have no idea if it helps with indigestion because I couldn't drink more than a sip.

I think next time, I'm going to take the article's suggestion and combine the leaves with the actual fruit. Not just for the added benefits, but because it will make the flavor pleasant to have.
