I agree with @mobilian33 that fruits and vegetables should be a part of any healthy weight loss program. The key to losing weight is moderation. You don't have to go to extremes like drinking only water or even going on a no or low carb diet.
Just cut down on the portions you eat. Make a habit of not filling your plate with food at meals and never go back for seconds and don't snack between meals. This goes a long way in limiting the calories you consume and that's the bottom line with any diet plan. And of course, you need to exercise. There's no getting around that one.
