Dr. Hart’s weighted blanket is the best I’ve found. Weighted blankets certainly help for the needs you’ve described but I had to go through several before I found Dr. Hart’s - and I haven’t gone back.

... The size and weight options let you target the best one for your needs and the quality really holds up. It doesn’t get lumpy, off balanced - and it doesn’t leak. Believe me, those are all prime considerations if you want one that will last.

I bought mine to help with some lingering PTSD and it’s been great. It’s comfortable enough that my wife also got one (the 15lb option) for herself and she uses it simply for better sleep. It's amazing what a good night's rest can do for a person's life.

I recently discovered Dr. Hart's blanket, too, and it's been a lifesaver. I work the night shift, and I'm on my feet all night. So when I get home, I'm exhausted ... and my whole body aches. This blanket helps me totally relax - and it doesn’t get too hot! Just a nice, breathable warmth that doesn’t smother me. Read more

@Aniyah Rey, How was the size for you? I've heard some weighted blankets are a bit on the small side and it's tricky to find one that would fit my bed. ... I'm also trying to decide what weight I should go with. Read more

The package says it's 60 x 80. It fits my queen-size just fine. I could actually share it with my husband, if we slept at the same time of day. I suppose if you're really tall, it could feel a bit short. But for most average people I'd say this is perfect.

... You can choose between 15, 20, and 25 pounds. I chose 15 because I thought any more would be too much for me—and it's perfect! If you're not sure, the company advises you go with about 10% of your weight plus 1 or 2 pounds. Read more

I have a high-energy 6-year-old son with autism, and sleep has been a big struggle for him until I got Dr. Hart's miracle-of-a-blanket. His energy level keeps him up - but the blanket helps him relax.

... And it helps with his sensory sensitivities, because the removable duvet it comes with is a suuuper soft plushy goodness. Since we got this about a year ago, he's slept through the night, and is just overall in a better mood during the day. It's been a game-changer for our family. Read more

@Jodene Spearing, How has your son's blanket held up for you over the last year? Would you say it's pretty durable? Any issues—beads leaking, seams ripping, or uneven weight distribution?

... I'm looking into getting this one, but I know any of those problems would just drive me crazy. I toss and turn a lot, so I worry that would add to the wear and tear. Read more

Yes, in fact, I'd say it's extremely durable. I did a lot of research before purchasing because weighted blankets can get expensive. I concluded that this one was the longest-lasting - with quartz beads (instead of glass or plastic like other brands), and reinforced stitching.

... The wavy square design helps keep the pressure evenly spread throughout the blanket. I’ve even since got one for myself and we’ve had no issues. Read more

I agree with @Jodene Spearing that Dr. Hart's blanket is the best bang for your buck. I've gone through several varieties of cheaper weighted blankets through the years. They each had problems ... with coming apart or bead leakage that required me to throw them out and purchase a new one. Dr. Hart’s hasn’t had any of those problems. Read more

I have to put in a plug for Degrees of Comfort blanket. Other weighted blankets can trap in all the heat, but this one comes with 2 duvet covers, which helps. One is a cooling cotton-y material ... and the other is cozy, warm fleece. So I've got one for winter and one for summer.

I do sometimes notice the beads shifting to the corners, causing an unevenly spread fill throughout the blanket. This can be slightly annoying, but for me, the blanket's benefits outweigh this flaw.

I enjoy the duvet options, as well. My only wish is that there was a single fabric available that would be ideal year-around. ...

It’s great to have a cooler duvet in summer and a warmer one in winter, but the transitional seasons (spring and fall) can leave me too hot or cold on random nights.

I used to pile multiple blankets up to add weight and help with my restless legs, but it would never last long because I would get so hot under all those layers. ... The YnM blanket helped with that. I like truHugs. Maybe it's because it's made with a hemp-cotton blend, but it feels cool and breathable. It's nice, too, cuz the weight stays perfectly even throughout the entire blanket. ... I would hate having to try to straighten it out all the time, so it's nice that I don't have to worry about that.

Biggest downside? The price is steep, even for a weighted blanket. But if your eco-footprint matters to you, it might be worth it.

@Annabeth R. my one issue with it is warmth. Did you find this blanket to be overly hot? I just bought one and I am roasting in there! Is it just me?

Annabeth R.

@Jokum Finn, it is pretty darn hot. We tend to like things really toasty at night over here. But, for those who get hot, it may not be the best choice. ... Maybe try a thin duvet over yours? In the end, it all depends on the person, though. Good luck!
